Prime minister Sheikh Hasina is heading for Australia after making a stopover in Singapore to attend Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting -2011.

She left Dhaka by a Singapore Airlines flight around 11.55pm on Wednesday and arrived in Singapore early Thursday.

Following a four-hour stay in Singapore, the prime minister left for Australia on a connecting flight around 7.56am.

The plane is scheduled to land at the Perth Airport at 12.20pm on Thursday.

On the first day of her stay in Perth, the prime minister will address a panel discussion titled 'Empowering Women to Lead' at the Grand Ball room of Hotel Hayyat Regency at 6 pm.

The commonwealth meeting will kick off on Oct 28 through a photo session of the heads of the governments with Queen Elizabeth II.

Foreign minister Dipu Moni, state minister for forest and environment Hasan Mahmud and ambassador-at-large M Ziauddin are accompanying Hasina on her three-day visit.

Sheikh Hasina is set to attend several sessions and hold a meeting with Commonwealth secretary general Kamalesh Sharma in the first day of the meet.
Hasina will also meet her Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong and Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa.

She is scheduled to pay tribute at the Memorial Wall of W A S Ouderland, BP, at Karrakatta Cemetery in the late afternoon.

On Oct 29, Hasina would attend a breakfast meeting with her Australian counterpart Julia Gillard at Pacific Perth Hotel.

Later in the day, she will attend the closing of the Commonwealth meet and a reception by the Bangladesh Australia Association at Elizabeth Zoly Lecture Theatre.

She is expected to return home on Oct 30.
